The               W               Hotel               Times               Square               is               one               of               five               in               New               York               City,               and               is               the               best               location               in               my               opinion.

From               this               hotel,               you               are               close               enough               to               see               the               ball               drop               from               select               windows               on               New               Year's               Eve.

During               other               times               of               year,               this               Times               Square               location               is               right               in               the               middle               of               all               the               action,               and               within               walking               distance               to               many               attractions               and               restaurants.

For               instance,               the               hotel               is               in               the               heart               of               the               theater               district               and               close               to               the               mtv               store.

Tips               for               Booking
               The               W               Hotel               Times               Square               can               be               booked               from               the               website,               www.whotels.com               ,               or               by               calling               directly               1-877-WHOTELS.

I               found               it               most               useful               to               research               the               site               first               to               find               special               offers,               and               then               to               call               and               make               my               booking               directly.

The               first               thing               you               will               want               to               do               is               become               a               Starwood               Preferred               Guest.

               This               is               not               your               run               of               the               mill               New               York               hotel.

I               have               many               times               stayed               in               New               York,               and               have               found               that               even               some               costly               places               can               be               tiny               rooms               where               you               have               to               step               over               the               bed               just               to               get               to               the               bathroom.

The               W               hotel               is               different-               as               soon               as               you               pull               up               in               front               of               the               hotel,               you               feel               a               sense               of               luxury               and               accommodation.

So,               you               arrive               in               front               of               the               hotel,               with               your               car               and               your               luggage               in               the               trunk.

There               are               people               waiting               for               you               to               take               your               luggage               and               park               your               car.

As               for               using               the               car               service               at               the               hotel,               it               is               costly.

It               is               about               $40               per               night,               but               can               be               more               if               you               have               an               SUV,               etc.

You               may               find               cheaper               parking               in               a               garage               nearby,               but               then               you               don't               have               the               ease               of               having               the               hotel               pull               the               car               right               up               to               the               curb               for               you               on               checkout.

Once               your               car               is               parked,               someone               will               take               you               and               your               luggage               up               to               the               seventh               floor               for               check-in.

Then,               your               luggage               will               be               taken               to               your               room               once               you               check               in.
               How               are               the               rooms?

We               stayed               in               a               spectacular               room.

This               meant               we               were               on               the               42nd               floor.

The               wonderful               rooms,               a               small               amount               less               expensive,               were               generally               on               floors               up               to               the               30th               floor.

In               the               spectacular               rooms,               there               is               a               great               view               of               the               new               york               city               streets               below.

We               requested               a               room               with               a               view,               and               had               a               view               of               Broadway.

We               could               see               the               M&M               sign               below               us               as               well.

The               room               was               superb.

The               minute               we               walked               in               we               were               transformed               into               a               different               mood,               of               peacefulness               and               stylish               innovation.

Our               room               had               a               mini-bar               with               wines               and               miniature               alcohol,               juices               and               bottles               of               water,               sodas,               and               some               snacks.

The               snacks               included               chocolate               and               chips,               etc.

You               could               also               purchase               an               umbrella               or               robe               from               a               drawer               under               the               mini-bar.

Be               careful-               make               sure               you               aren't               charged               for               something               you               didn't               eat               or               take.

We               were               accidentally               charged               for               an               umbrella,               and               I               had               to               call               to               have               this               removed               from               our               bill!

There               were               many               mirrors               in               the               room,               and               a               cd               was               playing               on               the               cd               player.

We               quite               enjoyed               how               the               cd               set               the               mood               for               a               quiet,               romantic               evening.

(The               cd               player               can               be               turned               off,               or               loaded               with               your               own               songs,               if               you'd               like.)               There               is               a               huge               plasma               tv,               a               glass-enclosed               shower,               and               floating               sink.

There               is               also               a               floating               glass               table               that               is               like               a               desk               with               stationery.

The               table/desk               is               up               against               the               wall,               with               one               chair.
               The               one               improvement               that               I               would               recommend               for               the               rooms               is               to               have               a               table               that               two               people               can               use.

We               ordered               room               service               and               there               was               only               one               chair.

Also,               the               table               is               against               the               wall               and               long,               so               we               would               have               had               to               sit               beside               each               other               to               eat               instead               of               across               from               each               other.

If               we               had               more               time,               we               would               have               requested               an               extra               chair,               and               I               am               quite               sure               they               would               have               provided               one.

Then,               we               could               have               used               the               table               provided               by               room               service.


               It's               just               something               to               think               about.

Room               service               is               available,               and               the               menu               is               great!

We               ordered               breakfast.

The               menu               is               able               to               be               accessed               from               the               television!

When               ordering               breakfast,               there               are               some               specials               available               so               that               you               don't               have               to               order               each               item               a               la               carte.

The               breakfast               came               in               a               timely               manner,               in               about               a               half               an               hour.
               The               hotel               also               has               other               useful               amenities.

The               seventh               floor,               where               you               check               in,               has               a               lounge               area               and               bar               area.

There               is               a               gift               shop               as               well,               with               unique               New               York               City               gifts.

It               is               pricey,               however.

There               are               women's               pants               there,               for               instance,               for               $200.

On               the               ground               level,               there               is               a               restaurant               called               the               Blue               Fin.

I               would               highly               recommend               this               restaurant.

The               ambience               is               surreal               with               a               modern               floating               staircase.

The               food               was               a               delicacy.

I               ordered               filet               mignon,               medium               well.

I               have               found,               even               in               the               best               restaurants,               that               it               is               hard               to               cook               a               thick               cut               of               filet               mignon               perfectly               medium               well.

However,               I               was               pleased               that               my               steak               was               cooked               to               perfection,               and               had               an               unforgettable               flavor!

The               dessert               was               out               of               this               world!

It               was               "created"               by               the               chefs.

The               best               thing               about               it               was               the               raspberry               sorbet,               which               was               smooth               and               creamy               to               perfection.

The               bill               for               two               people               including               a               good               tip               was               about               $230               for               appetizer,               salad,               two               main               courses,               and               dessert.
               There               is               a               bar               underneath               the               hotel               called               the               Whiskey.

This               was               the               place               to               be               on               Saturday               night!

The               feel               is               hip-hop               popular               dance               music,               and               most               people               are               dressed               up               but               not               formal.

There               are               many               different               little               cozy               areas               to               sit               and               chat,               and               a               vip               area               for               parties               at               one               end               of               the               club.

Plenty               of               room               is               available               for               dancing,               and               many               were               dancing               that               night!

You               must               exit               the               hotel               to               reach               the               Whiskey,               and               walk               outside               to               the               door               down               to               the               club.

But,               it's               not               far               enough               to               need               a               coat-               so               you               can               still               leave               everything               in               your               room.

You               also               get               free               admission               being               a               guest               of               the               hotel.
               What's               Going               on               Around               Town?
               The               Broadway               theatre               district               is               right               around               the               corner.

This               means               you               can               walk               from               the               hotel               to               a               show.

Times               Square               is               right               there,               with               the               mtv               store,               and               many               other               popular               stores.

Within               walking               distance               also               is               the               Empire               State               Building-               about               a               mile               south,               and               Central               Park,               about               a               mile               north.

We               walked               to               Rockefeller               Center,               where               we               checked               out               iceskating.

It               cost               about               $18               per               person               including               skate               rental               for               1.5               hours.

If               you               ever               want               to               ice               skate,               the               sessions               start               about               every               two               hours               and               last               for               1.5               hours,               up               until               about               midnight               each               night.

We               also               went               to               eat               in               the               Rockefeller               Center               at               the               Rainbow               Room.

This               would               have               been               nice,               but               we               couldn't               get               served               dinner               because               we               missed               the               last               sitting.

It               was               about               10               pm               on               a               Saturday               night-               so               get               there               early.

We               did               manage               to               sit               at               the               bar               and               have               a               $7               apple               martini.
               Recommendation
               Stay               at               this               hotel!

Don't               miss               the               incredible               experience.

The               W               Hotel               Times               Square               offers               every               modern               accommodation               you               could               wish               for               and               then               some.

Everyone               is               friendly               and               helpful,               including               the               doormen               when               asking               for               directions,               and               the               amenities               are               worth               the               price.

The               location               can't               be               beat!

As               a               result               of               staying               in               this               hotel,               we               have               decided               to               stay               in               W               hotels               every               time               we               take               a               trip               in               the               future-               I               was               that               impressed.

Other               than               the               bill               being               having               some               errors,               which               were               fixed               when               a               call               was               placed,               this               was               an               impeccable               experience.

    The               Hutton               Hotel               in               Nashville               has               canceled               its               contract               with               an               anti-Shariah               conference               which               was               planned               for               Nov.

    11,               2011.

    An               article               in               the               Oct.

    25               edition               of               The               Tennessean               revealed               that               the               management               of               the               hotel               said               its               reason               for               the               cancellation               was               fear               the               event               could               attract               protests               and               disrupt               business               after               hotel               management               allegedly               received               calls               from               both               the               public               and               some               of               their               clients               complaining               about               the               event.

    A               senior               vice               president               of               hotels               for               the               Hutton's               owners,               Steve               Eckley               of               Amerimar               Enterprises,               claimed               the               Hutton               hotel               didn't               know               what               kind               of               event               was               being               planned.

    "If               this               group               had               let               us               know               what               kind               of               program               they               were               planning               and               who               was               involved,               we               wouldn't               have               booked               it,"               Eckley               said.

                   What               Kind               of               Event?

    The               Preserving               Freedom               conference               program               included               workshops               on               the               European               experience               with               Sharia;               religious               persecution               under               Sharia,               examining               the               lack               of               women's               rights               under               Shariah;               refuting               Islamist               propaganda               in               the               media;               organizations               opposed               to               mosques               in               some               communities               and               other               topics.

                   Who               Was               Involved?

    The               "who"               is               a               non-threatening,               non-violent               group               including:               Lou               Ann               Zelenik               of               the               Tennessee               Freedom               Coalition;               Atlas               Shrugs               blogger               Pamela               Geller;               Murfreesboro               mosque               opponent               and               Center               for               Security               Policy               President               Frank               Gaffney;               former               Republican               Rep.

    Fred               Grandy,               who               played               the               Gopher               on               the               popular               TV               series               "The               Love               Boat,"and               talk               show               host               Steve               Gill.

                   Who               Were               the               Sponsors?

    Sponsors               for               the               event               are               equally               reputable,               including               two               Christian               legal               groups               American               Center               for               Law               and               Justice,               the               Liberty               Counsel,               and               the               conservative               website               WorldNetDaily.

                   What               Was               the               Hutton               Hotel               Told?

    When               the               hotel               was               booked               on               August               29,               Zelenick               told               Curtis               Hinton,               Director               of               Events               at               the               Hutton,               that               the               official               title               of               the               conference               was               "The               Constitution               or               Sharia:               Preserving               Freedom               Conference,"               and               that               it               would               compare               the               incompatibility               of               Islamic               law               with               the               U.S.

    Constitution.

    According               to               William               Murray,               chairman               of               the               Preserving               Freedom               conference,               because               the               subject               matter               was               controversial               given               the               fact               "Islam               may               only               be               discussed               positively               --               never               critically,"               the               Hutton               made               the               group               purchase               an               extra-liability               insurance               policy,               an               additional               expense.

    Not               Some               Local               Anti-Muslim               Group               "This               is               not               some               local               anti-Muslim               group,"               said               Murray.

    "This               was               a               responsible               organization               of               national               organizations               meeting               to               discuss               the               issue               of               Shariah               law."               In               an               Oct.

    26               press               releases               about               the               situation               Murray               added,               "The               outside               possibility               of               a               violent               reaction               from               a               small               minority               is               no               reason               to               cancel               any               conference,               meeting               or               sports               event               in               this               nation."
                   Murray               stated               that               approximately               100               people               had               already               registered               for               the               event               and               an               additional               200               Nashvillians               were               expected               to               attend,               some               perhaps               influenced               by               the               fact               the               Ft.

    Hood               shooter               was               recruited               to               extreme               Islam               at               a               Nashville               mosque.
                   Murray               indicated               this               cancellation               puts               the               conference               in               jeopardy               and               that               conference               organizers               will               "pursue               all               avenues               to               compel               the               Hutton               to               abide               by               its               binding               contract,               which               can't               be               legally               abrogated               by               one               party."
                   In               a               press               release               about               the               situation,               Murray               asked,               "Would               the               Hutton               refuse               to               book               an               event               for               the               Council               on               American               Islamic               Relations               or               the               Islamic               Society               of               North               America?"
                   Free               Speech               at               Risk
                   ACT               for               America,               an               issues               advocacy               organization               sent               out               an               email               to               its               members               calling               the               Hutton's               decision               an               "unacceptable               and               outrageous               action"               saying,               "This               is               the               second               hotel               to               take               such               outrageous               action               in               the               past               week.

    It's               clear               they               are               knuckling               under               to               complaints               and               threats               from               organizations               such               as               CAIR,               the               Council               on               American-Islamic               Relations.

    What's               more,               the               hotels               are               in               effect               capitulating               to               sharia               law               provisions               that               suppress               free               speech."
                   Lou               Ann               Zelenick               of               the               Tennessee               Freedom               Coalition               said               the               cancellation               shows               how               great               a               threat               Shariah               law               is               a               threat               to               free               speech               by               censoring               her               group               for               its               opposition               to               radical               Islam.

    Murray               agreed               saying,               "This               is               blatant               oppression               of               free               speech."
                   Zelenick               stated,               "I               feel               the               Hutton               is               now               under               Shariah               law."

    The               city               of               Chiang               Mai               is               Thailand's               second               most               popular               tourist               destination.

    But,               the               wonderful               thing               about               the               Empire               is               the               price               may               be               budget               but               the               quality               definitely               isn't.

    It's               a               large               hotel               offering               enormous               rooms               that               are               spotlessly               clean               and               with               all               the               amenities.

    I               stayed               with               a               friend               in               a               Superior               Room               (which               is               their               basic               room               designation).

    We               couldn't               get               over               the               large               size               of               the               room,               the               huge               LCD               screen               TV,               the               small               kitchen               area,               sitting               area               and               huge               marble               bathroom.

    Everything               at               the               Empire               Residence/Hotel               is               beautifully               taken               care               of,               the               staff               is               lovely               and               room               rates               even               include               breakfast               in               the               cute               restaurant               downstairs               (make               sure               you               sit               outside               on               the               patio               on               pretty               mornings).
                   The               location               too               is               stunning.

    Right               on               Nimmanhemin               Road,               Chiang               Mai's               trendy               shopping               and               dining               street,               you're               surrounded               by               cool               cafes,               restaurants,               bars,               boutiques               and               art               galleries.
                   Basic               rates               for               the               Empire               start               at               around               $35               for               one               night's               stay               in               a               Superior               Room               including               breakfast.

                   Basic               rates               for               a               single               room               are               unbelievably               cheap               beginning               at               just               $30               a               night,               with               double               rooms               around               $38               a               night.
