Living               in               Bangkok,               Thailand,               you               might               think               there's               not               much               point               my               owning               hotel               membership               cards.

After               all,               if               I               have               an               apartment               here,               why               on               earth               would               I               need               to               use               a               hotel?

You'd               be               surprised.

Not               only               is               owning               the               best               hotel               membership               cards               in               Bangkok               a               great               idea               for               when               you               eat               at               the               hotel's               restaurants               or               use               their               beauty               spas,               but               you               can               also               book               rooms               for               friends               and               relatives               at               greatly               reduced               prices.

In               fact,               if               you're               living               in               Bangkok               or               planning               on               moving               here               soon,               or               just               take               frequent               trips               to               the               Land               of               Smiles,               signing               up               for               these               best               Bangkok               hotel               membership               cards               is               something               I               recommend               you               do.
               S               Privilege               Card               for               Shangri-La               -               I               signed               up               for               the               S               Privilege               Card               for               the               Shangri-La               Hotel               primarily               because               I               was               there,               it               was               offered               to               me               and,               the               most               important               thing,               it               was               free.

Almost               a               year               later,               I've               used               the               card               so               many               times               I'll               definitely               be               renewing               it               once               it               expires.
               With               the               S               Privilege               Card               at               the               Shangri-La               you               get               a               20               percent               discount               on               any               Deluxe               Room               you               book,               whether               for               yourself               or               for               a               family               member.

I               haven't               used               it               for               this               as               yet               but,               if               my               parents               visit               me               again               in               Bangkok,               the               Shangri-La               is               the               first               hotel               I               will               be               looking               at               booking.
               Not               only               discounts               on               hotel               rooms,               though,               you               also               get               20               percent               discounts               on               all               food               and               beverages               at               the               Shangri-La's               excellent               restaurants.

I've               used               it               for               a               client               lunches               at               the               Next2               Cafe,               as               well               as               for               afternoon               teas               and               Sunday               brunches               with               various               friends.

As               the               Shangri-La               serves               some               of               the               best               food               in               Bangkok,               the               S               Privilege               Card               has               been               one               of               the               best               things               I've               signed               up               for.
               Club               Marriott               -               The               only               hotel               membership               card               in               Bangkok               that               I've               paid               for               so               far               is               the               Club               Marriott               card,               but               it               has               been               well               worth               the               7,800               baht               ($245)               price.

That's               because               I               eat               at               Marriott               restaurants               in               Bangkok               quite               a               lot               as               I               have               clients               close               to               the               Marriott               Hotel               on               Sukhumvit               Road,               and               two               of               them               enjoy               eating               at               the               restaurants               there.
               With               the               Club               Marriott               card               in               Bangkok,               you               get               35               percent               off               every               meal               if               you               are               eating               alone               and               50               percent               off               if               there               are               two               or               more               people               in               your               group.

That               alone               means               the               steep               initial               fee               for               the               Club               Marriott               card               is               well               worth               it               if               you               only               dine               here               a               few               times               a               year.

As               I               eat               there               much               more,               my               Club               Marriott               card               had               paid               for               itself               in               just               the               first               two               months.
               Add               in               that               the               card               isn't               just               Bangkok               exclusive,               as               it               can               be               used               at               Marriott               Hotels               all               over               Thailand               and,               indeed,               all               over               south               east               Asia,               and               even               $245               for               this               hotel               membership               card               is               an               extremely               good               deal.
               Hilton               Premium               Club               -               The               only               hotel               membership               card               in               Bangkok               that               I               don't               have               yet               is               the               Hilton               Premium               Club               card,               but               I               do               plan               on               picking               one               up               in               the               next               couple               of               months.

That's               because               the               Hilton               Premium               Club               card               includes               not               only               Hilton               and               Conrad               Hotels               all               over               Thailand,               but               also               Hilton               hotels               in               various               other               Asian               countries,               including               Malaysia.

As               I               travel               to               Kuala               Lumpur               several               times               a               year,               the               Hilton               Premium               Club               card               is               a               'must               have'               for               me.
               Similar               to               the               Club               Marriott               card,               while               you               get               hotel               room               discounts               with               the               Hilton               card,               you               also               get               discounts               of               between               20               and               50               percent               at               Hilton               Hotel               restaurants,               depending               on               how               many               people               are               in               your               party.

There               is               even               a               25               percent               discount               when               dining               at               Prime               Steakhouse               at               the               Hilton               Millennium               and,               as               it's               one               of               my               favorite               steak               restaurants               in               Bangkok,               I'd               use               the               card               there               for               sure.
               With               the               club               card,               Hilton               hotels               also               offer               a               20-30               percent               discount               at               Hilton               spas               and               fitness               centers.

That               means,               once               I               own               a               club               card,               when               I               need               a               manicure               or               a               facial               a               Hilton               spa               would               be               one               of               the               first               places               I'd               consider               going.
               Finally,               if               you               have               a               spouse               or               a               partner,               the               fee               includes               a               second               card               for               them.

At               7,500               baht               per               year,               or               $238,               a               Hilton               Premium               Card               is               well               worth               owning               for               anyone               who               likes               Hilton               hotels               and               plans               on               staying               in               them,               eating               at               them,               or               using               their               spa               or               fitness               facilities               at               least               once               or               twice               a               month.
               You               can               find               more               about               the               enormous               number               of               benefits               you               get               with               the               Hilton               Premium               Club               card               at               their               website.

Just               be               aware,               as               of               this               writing,               for               some               odd               reason               you               cannot               use               the               card               at               the               Hilton               Sukhumvit               for               some               things,               so               check               to               make               sure               the               activity               you               plan               on               doing               is               covered               before               you               make               bookings               or               reservations               there.

    The               city               of               Chiang               Mai               is               Thailand's               second               most               popular               tourist               destination.

    Located               in               northern               Thailand,               surrounded               by               beautiful               countryside               and               chock               full               of               fun               things               to               do,               Chiang               Mai               is               also               home               to               many               budget               hotels.

    In               fact,               there               are               so               many               cheap               hotels               in               Chiang               Mai,               it's               often               difficult               to               choose.

    If               you're               going               to               be               staying               in               Chiang               Mai               and               don't               want               to               spend               a               lot               of               money,               these               budget               hotels               offer               clean               and               comfortable               accommodation               for               a               cheap               price.

    Empire               Residence/Hotel,               Chiang               Mai               -               My               favorite               budget               hotel               in               Chiang               Mai               is               the               Empire               Hotel.

    Newly               opened               in               2009,               it's               set               up               both               as               a               budget               hotel               and               serviced               apartments.

    But,               the               wonderful               thing               about               the               Empire               is               the               price               may               be               budget               but               the               quality               definitely               isn't.

    It's               a               large               hotel               offering               enormous               rooms               that               are               spotlessly               clean               and               with               all               the               amenities.

    I               stayed               with               a               friend               in               a               Superior               Room               (which               is               their               basic               room               designation).

    We               couldn't               get               over               the               large               size               of               the               room,               the               huge               LCD               screen               TV,               the               small               kitchen               area,               sitting               area               and               huge               marble               bathroom.

    Everything               at               the               Empire               Residence/Hotel               is               beautifully               taken               care               of,               the               staff               is               lovely               and               room               rates               even               include               breakfast               in               the               cute               restaurant               downstairs               (make               sure               you               sit               outside               on               the               patio               on               pretty               mornings).
                   The               location               too               is               stunning.

    Right               on               Nimmanhemin               Road,               Chiang               Mai's               trendy               shopping               and               dining               street,               you're               surrounded               by               cool               cafes,               restaurants,               bars,               boutiques               and               art               galleries.
                   Basic               rates               for               the               Empire               start               at               around               $35               for               one               night's               stay               in               a               Superior               Room               including               breakfast.
                   The               Empire               Residence/Hotel,               22/3               Nimmanhemin               Road,               Sutep,               Muang,               Chiang               Mai
                   3SIS               Hotel               -               This               family-run               budget               hotel               is               in               a               perfect               location               in               the               old               city               area               of               Chiang               Mai.

    Close               to               Chedi               Luang               Temple,               3SIS               Hotel               is               an               absolutely               incredible               hotel,               located               in               two               separate               buildings               -               one               a               converted               old               house               and               the               other               a               lodge.

    Rooms               are               large               and               airy               and               decorated               with               gorgeous               traditional               Thai               antiques               and               fabrics.

    Free               Wi-Fi               is               available,               every               room               is               air               conditioned               and               has               an               en               suite               bath               ,               flat               screen               TV               and               breakfast               is               also               included.

    The               hotel               is               lovely               and               quiet               during               the               day               and               evening,               except               on               Sunday               nights               when               you               are               slip               bang               in               the               middle               of               Chiang               Mai's               enormous               (and               famous)               walking               street               market.

    3SIS               Hotel               is               surrounded               by               independent               coffee               shops               and               restaurants,               with               art               galleries               and               boutiques               also               close               by.

    Plus,               it's               only               a               10               minute               tuk-tuk               or               songtaew               ride               to               the               Night               Bazaar.

    You               won't               be               able               to               believe               the               3SIS               Hotel               is               a               cheap               hotel               as               you'll               feel               like               you're               staying               in               a               luxury               retreat.
                   Basic               rates               for               a               single               room               are               unbelievably               cheap               beginning               at               just               $30               a               night,               with               double               rooms               around               $38               a               night.

                   Lai               Thai               Guest               House               Hotel               -               This               budget               boutique               hotel               is               located               near               to               the               famous               Thapae               Gate               in               the               old               city               and               only               a               five               minute               walk               to               many               of               Chiang               Mais               markets               and               shops.

    Open               for               more               than               20               years,               Lai               Thai               Guest               House               Hotel               offers               clean               and               comfortable               accommodation               with               lots               of               amenities               for               a               cheap               price.

    Rooms               have               an               en               suite               bathroom,               mini               bar,               TV,               and               Wi-Fi.

    There's               also               a               swimming               pool               and               an               on-site               restaurant.

    All               rooms               have               hardwood               floors               and               bamboo               walls               and               have               a               traditional               Thai               feel               to               them.
                   Lai               Thai               Guest               House               Hotel               has               a               large               open-air               restaurant               that's               open               for               breakfast,               lunch               and               dinner               and               serves               more               than               100               dishes               of               both               Thai               and               western               origin.
                   Single               room               rates               begin               as               low               as               $22               with               a               continental               breakfast               available               for               an               extra               $2.50               per               day               per               person.

    About 'best hotel prices'|What's the best hotel to stay at in las Vegas








    By               far               the               most               fun               hotel               I've               ever               stayed               in               is               the               Excalibur               Hotel               (click               here)               in               downtown               Las               Vegas.

    A               year               ago,               a               good               girlfriend               of               mine               and               I               took               our               newly-turned-21               year               old               daughters               to               Las               Vegas               to               celebrate               this               milestone               of               a               birthday.

    My               friend               made               all               the               arrangements               and               I               couldn't               have               been               more               pleased               with               the               hotel               she               chose...

    The               medieval               castle               called               'The               Excalibur'.

    The               Excalibur               is               conveniently               located               right               on               Las               Vegas               Boulevard,               the               mail               drag               in               town.

    It               sits               between               the               Egyptian               pyramid               Luxor               Hotel,               and               the               transplanted               Manhattan               skyline               of               the               New               York,               New               York               Hotel.

    Only               a               block               down               is               the               Monte               Carlo               Hotel,               home               of               famed               magician               Lance               Burton,               and               directly               across               the               street               is               the               MGM               Grand               Hotel.

    The               beautiful               fountains               of               the               Bellagio               Hotel               are               within               walking               distance,               as               is               the               Eifel               Tower               of               the               Paris               Hotel.
                   We               stayed               in               a               Standard               Room...guest               suites               are               available               along               with               "wide               screen               rooms"               which               come               with               wide               screen               televisions.

    Our               standard               room               was               very               nice...

    clean,               spacious               and               comfortable.

    We               had               a               nice               view               of               the               Luxor               Hotel               which               really               lights               up               at               night.

    Us               moms               shared               a               room               while               our               daughters               had               one               to               themselves.

    My               friend               and               I               have               reputations               for               being               over-protective               mothers,               but               the               security               in               the               Excalibur               was               top               notch               and               we               didn't               worry               about               our               girls               at               all.

    (Well...

    maybe               a               tiny               bit...it's               a               hard               habit               to               break!)
                   The               girls               wanted               to               go               'clubbing'               at               the               Luxor               next               door.

    My               friend               and               I               were               able               to               contain               our               paranoid               mom               feelings               and               say               "Okay,               have               a               great               time."               One               reason               we               felt               good               saying               this,               is               that               there               is               a               tunnel               that               connects               the               Luxor               and               the               Excalibur...it's               much               safer               to               take               the               tunnel               than               walking               out               on               the               street               at               night.

    Las               Vegas               is               Las               Vegas,               after               all               -               Sin               City.

    There               is               also               a               tunnel               that               connects               the               Excalibur               to               the               New               York               Hotel.

    We               enjoyed               taking               the               tunnel               over               there,               as               it               was               summer               when               we               went,               and               it               was               a               balmy               107               degrees               outside.
                   While               the               girls               were               clubbing               away               at               the               Luxor,               my               friend               and               I               enjoyed               the               casino               in               the               Excalibur.

    The               casino               was               clean               and               well               secured.

    The               bar               areas               were               equally               as               nice               and               we               were               pleased               that               the               prices               of               the               drinks               at               the               bars               were               not               outrageous.

    All               in               all,               our               first               night               there               was               very               pleasant.
                   The               second               night               there               we               chose               to               see               the               headline               act               of               the               Excalibur...the               Tournament               of               Kings.

    Imagine               traveling               back               in               time               to               the               days               of               King               Arthur               and               the               nights               of               the               round               table...

    well,               that's               exactly               what               you'll               do               when               you               see               the               Tournament               of               Kings.

    We               saw               none               other               than               King               Arthur               himself               on               horseback,               jousting               with               his               arch               enemy.

    We               saw               the               other               kings               of               the               realm               jousting               each               other               as               well.

    Yes...

    there               were               real               horses               with               real               Knights               and               real               Lances               charging               full               speed               at               each               other.

    Warning...

    if               you               sit               in               the               bottom               few               rows,               expect               to               get               a               little               dirt               on               you!

    (Just               a               little               though...

    it's               not               bad!)
                   While               we               enjoyed               this               magical               show,               we               were               served               a               dinner               that               could               have               been               on               the               menu               during               the               medieval               ages.

    We               had               soup,               (delicious)               and               a               cornish               game               hen               &               sliced               potatoes,               cooked               to               perfection.

    The               only               drawback               was...

    there               was               no               silverware!

    You               had               to               eat               with               your               hands               just               as               the               people               did               back               in               the               day.

    Luckily               I               had               stashed               a               plastic               knife               from               an               earlier               meal               into               my               purse               so               we               were               able               to               cut               our               hens               rather               than               pull               them               apart.

    Some               folks               say               we               cheated...well,               we're               card               carrying               city               girls,               what               can               I               say.

    This               had               to               be               one               of               the               most               enjoyable               shows               I               have               ever               seen.

    The               cost               for               the               Tournament               of               Kings               was               $68.00               per               person,               but               I               think               this               varies               depending               on               the               day.

    We               were               there               over               a               weekend.

    I               highly               recommend               the               show               no               matter               where               in               Vegas               you're               staying.
                   The               rates               for               the               Excalibur               hotel               vary               greatly               depending               on               the               time               of               year,               or               the               day               you               stay               there.

    The               room               rates               for               the               standard               rooms               range               from               $33.00               to               $146.00               per               night.

    If               you               go               to               their               website,               www.excalibur.com,               you               can               check               the               rates               for               all               of               their               rooms               for               the               days               you               will               be               visiting.
                   Another               tip               I               can               give               you               if               you're               planning               on               visiting               Las               Vegas...the               bus.

    There               is               a               bus               line               that               runs               up               and               down               Las               Vegas               Boulevard               and               stops               at               all               of               the               major               hotels.

    Rather               than               walking               out               in               the               heat               and               encountering               the               not               so               savory               folks               that               line               the               streets               trying               to               sell               you               tickets               to               VIP               rooms,               we               bought               day               passes               and               took               the               bus               up               and               down               the               street.

    We               visited               the               Bellagio               and               watched               the               fountain               show,               we               had               champagne               in               the               Eifel               tower,               shopped               in               Caesar's               Palace               and               saw               the               pirate               ship               at               Treasure               Island.

    It               was               a               grand               weekend               which               was               made               all               the               more               pleasurable               by               our               lovely               hotel,               the               Excalibur.

    Our               daughters               had               a               great               time,               and               us               paranoid               moms               survived               quite               nicely!

    I               can't               wait               to               go               back.
