Kuala Lumpur is an exciting city, but hotels can be expensive. Many budget hotels are nice, but just as many are not great (and a few are horrible). I've stayed in Kuala Lumpur many times in over two dozen hotels. I've compiled a list of the best budget hotels in KL, where you can save money and still get a nice room. Here are the top six budget hotels in Kuala Lumpur: The Chinatown Inn 2. Approx. $24 to $30 per night. Just a block from the Pasar Seni skytrain station, located on Petaling Street in Chinatown's open market. It has clean beds, central air conditioning, hot water for coffee and tea, and a lobby area with a big screen TV. Wi-Fi is excellent on the first 4 floors, but a little weak on floor 5. There are two of these hotels on the same street, and both are nice, but I'm partial to Chinatown Inn 2. My one complaint is that the air con is too cold (central air), so make sure you get a room with a window. You can open it to let some warmth in. You can get a great buffet breakfast next door at the Swiss Inn for just 12 Ringit ($4) as a C-Inn2 guest. The street market is right outside your door, so shop all night, and then walk to your room! The staff is friendly and helpful! Cube Boutique Hotel Approx.$29 to 35 per night At the corner of Bukit Bintang and Pudu, within 3 minutes walk of the Imbi Monorail station, and the huge Times Square shopping center. Very clean hotel! I was impressed by the modern look, very clean room and beds, and lots of amenities: slippers, dental kit, hair dryer, lots more. Large fat screen TV. Wifi is good. Cube is highly recommended Ancasa Express Approx. $30 to $40 per night. On Pudu Street above Plaza Rakyat LRT station, the hotel is literally above the sky-train station. That makes it convenient to get to other parts of the city. From the station, take the elevator to the 5 th floor to reach the hotel lobby. The rooms are clean and nice. There is a flat screen TV, strong Wi-Fi, and a very hot rainfall shower, which is a large panel that sprays water down from the ceiling like rain. Breakfast in the cafe is a good buffet. My only complaint was that the cafe is only open for breakfast and dinner, and not 24 hours. Do not confuse Ancasa Express with Ancasa Spa Hotel next door, which is very expensive. Ancasa Express is cheaper, clean, and friendly. A 5-minute walk to the famous Jalan Alor food street, and Bukit Bintang. Hotel Sentral $30 to $40 Per Night This hotel is just two block from the Sentral Station, which is the heart of all transportation in the city - buses, trains and sky-trains all meet here. Sentral is where the KLIA airport-link train will take you, and from there you can walk 2 blocks to the beautiful Sentral Hotel. Rooms are small but nice, clean, have good Wi-Fi, and hot water. There isn't as much to do in that area, but you're very close to the trains that take you everywhere. Ocean 77 $24 to 31 per night On Petaling Street in Chinatown, this brand new hotel is spotlessly clean. There is a flat screen TV and good Wi-Fi in each room. The location is good, in the heart of the Petaling street market and close to Bukit Bintang. Very friendly staff. No cafe in the hotel, but many nearby on the street. Sky Hotel $45 to $60 per night Excellent location right on the Bukit Bintang Walk. After a 10 minute walk, you can do some high-end shopping at the Pavillion, or some discount shopping at Sungei Wang Plaza. Not far from the Imbi monorail station. Clean and big rooms, good Wi-Fi. Kuala Lumpur has just finished construction on 2 more subway lines, so you're well-connected to any part of the city from any of these hotels.
