About 'jebel ali hotel'|RTA Amends Public Buses Route to Feed Energy Metro Station








Dubai's               amazing               Palm               Islands               and               sailboat-shaped               7-star               hotel               offshore               are               well               known               icons               around               the               world.

They               are               symbols               to               many               people               of               immeasurable               wealth,               and               indeed,               you               would               be               hard               pressed               to               find               a               place               that               has               developed               at               such               a               rapid               pace               as               the               city               of               Dubai.

Just               20               years               ago,               the               landscape               was               flat,               with               only               a               few               buildings               over               one               or               two               stories               high.

Today's               Dubai               boasts               the               largest               building               in               the               world,               many               Dubai               hotels               of               huge               proportions,               and               architectural               wonders               at               every               turn.

Ancient               History
               Little               is               known               about               the               area's               ancient               history,               but               there               have               been               archaeological               digs               which               prove               humans               have               been               in               the               area               since               3000               BC,               and               link               the               people               to               the               Magan               civilization               from               the               Bronze               Age.

The               Magan               people               traded               copper               from               Oman,               and               pearls               from               the               Dubai               area               in               Mesopotamia               and               Babylonia,               and               set               up               Dubai's               first               trade               lines.

Further               digs               at               Jumeira               unearthed               a               6th-century               AD               caravan               station,               which               shows               that               Dubai               continued               to               be               a               hub               of               trade               activity               through               the               ancient               years.
               Modern               History
               We               know               that               800               tribal               members               of               the               Bani               Yas               tribe               settled               at               the               mouth               of               Dubai               Creek               in               1833,               which               helped               build               Dubai               into               a               natural               trade               center               for               pearl               diving,               fishing,               and               the               sea               trade               which               was               common               in               those               times.
               It               became               a               successful               port,               with               the               largest               souk               on               the               coast               hosting               over               350               different               shops               drawing               visitors               and               traders.

By               1930,               Dubai               had               a               population               of               around               20,000,               one               fourth               of               them               from               other               countries               and               other               cultures.
               By               the               1950s,               Sheikh               Rashid               bin               Saeed               Al               Maktoum               realized               that               Dubai               Creek               required               dredging               to               open               Dubai               up               to               more               trade               and               large               cargo               handling               volume.

This               dredging               project               was               ambitious               and               extremely               expensive,               but               it               paid               off               in               spades               for               the               city               by               making               Dubai               a               major               re-export               and               trade               hub.

New               Dubai               hotels               were               built               that               are               now               the               oldest               Dubai               hotels               in               town,               after               the               latest               incarnation               of               the               city.
               A               few               years               later,               in               1966,               oil               was               discovered               and               Sheikh               Rashid               was               wise               enough               to               invest               the               money               into               developing               the               city's               infrastructure               by               building               roads,               hospitals,               and               schools,               and               developing               modern               communications               systems.

A               man-made               harbor               was               built               at               Jebel               Ali,               and               a               free               trade               zone               created               around               the               port.

The               United               Arab               Emirates,               of               which               Dubai               is               a               part               of,               has               quickly               become               one               of               the               richest               countries               in               the               world.
               Leaders               in               Dubai               decided               in               the               late               1980s               and               early               1990s               that               a               focus               on               the               international               tourism               industry               was               in               order               and               they               have               invested               heavily               to               that               end.

Dubai               hotels               now               stand               that               are               remarkable               feats               of               architecture,               and               host               sporting               and               entertainment               events               that               draw               the               masses               from               around               the               world.
