About 'disney hotels'|What motels are close to Disneyworld in Hawaii
While some of the running trails on Walt Disney World property are reserved only for guests, many of the paved paths are open to the general public and easily accessible from WDW parking lots and area hotels. You can enjoy an early morning run or late evening walk around Epcot resorts, Disney's Boardwalk and several Disney hotels for a scenic and enjoyable workout. However, there are several things to keep in mind before you put on those running shoes. Here are seen things you need to know when you hit the jogging or running trails on Walt Disney property: 1. Be aware of cyclists! Some of the running paths around Walt Disney World do allow bicycles, so it may not be a good idea to zone out with headphones on these routes. Check with the nearest resort to find out if bicyclists are permitted on the grounds. The Fort Wilderness fitness trail is a great scenic route but does allow bicycles. 2. Do interval training workouts in the late afternoon. This is a "light traffic" period because most Disney guests are having lunch or relaxing at the hotel pool. This means it's easier to do those sprints and stretches of speedwalking without worrying about bumping into someone. It's also one of the hottest times of the day in Orlando, so dress accordingly. 3. Don't run along the golf courses. Walt Disney World golf courses are not open to walkers or runners, even during less busy times. You'll also want to avoid running on the golf cart path because golfers aren't prepared to see runners or walkers along the trail! Stick to the paved walkways and trails around the major hotels and resorts to get your workout. 4. Wear the right gear. It will get hot - very hot - between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. in Orlando, so you'll need to make sure you're well-prepared for the heat and humidity on your route. Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing and double up on the sunscreen. 5. Be careful when criss-crossing parking lots. Many out-of-town guests on Disney property are struggling to find their way out of any given parking lot and may not be paying attention to the road or signs. Slow down your pace when cutting through and across parking lots to avoid an accident. 6. Stay off the main roads and bus lanes. It may be tempting to run down the bus lane between Disney hotels in the early morning or late evening hours as you make your way to the jogging trail, but those buses can come barreling along at any given moment. Stick with the pedestrian sidewalks and paved trails designated for runners or joggers, and take your time to get to and from your chosen path. 7. Stick with shaded trails on hot summer days. When Orlando temperatures reach the upper 80s and 90s, you'll want to avoid the unshaded trails around Seven Seas Lagoon and Epcot resorts. Make your way to the shaded trail at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort so you can run under the beautiful cypress trees with ease. Source: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/recreation/jogging-trails/ |
