Actor Robert De Niro will be honored at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards for the Cecil B. DeMille Award. It's an achievement given to those who have made a large impact in the arts and entertainment industry. Actor Robert De Niro's Major Accomplishments The actor has accomplished more than 70 film roles, winning Oscars for his portrayal as Vito Corleone in "The Godfather, Part II" and as Jake La Motta in "Raging Bull." De Niro won the Lead Actor Oscar for "Raging Bull" and received a Golden Globe for the movie as well for Motion Picture Actor in a Drama. In all, Robert De Niro has been nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards, most notably for his role as Travis Bickle in Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" and in "New York, New York" as Jimmy Doyle. De Niro was also nominated for a Golden Globe in "The Deer Hunter," portraying a Vietnam vet and for playing Jack Wash in "Midnight Run." Additionally, a nomination as Max Cady in another Scorsese film called "Cape Fear" in 1962. The film was a remake. Robert De Niro's excellent role as an insecure mob boss, Paul Vitti, in "Analyze This" earned a Golden Globe nod as well. Last, but not least, the actor's comedic role as Jack Byrnes in "Meet the Parents." In 2009 he was the recipient of the Kennedy Center Honor for his distinguished talent as an actor. He won the Hollywood Actor Award from the Hollywood Film Festival, and Stanley Kubrick Award from BAFTA Britannia Awards. If that wasn't enough, even AARP paid tribute to Robert De Niro by crowing him with the 2010 Movies for Grownups Lifetime Achievement Award. Golden Globes 2011 Honor - Other Projects By Robert De Niro Robert De Niro has a huge investment in his own company called, "Tribeca Productions, the Tribeca Film Center." He developed the company with Jane Rosenthal back in 1988. As a response to the tragic attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11, Robert De Niro added the "Tribeca Film Festival," in 2001 -- another venture with Rosenthal with involvement from Craig Hatkoff. The addition of the festival was designed to improve Lower Manhattan on economical and cultural fronts through annual celebrations of film, music, and culture as a way to promote NYC for major film productions.
